In contrast to the Commons Cargobike, there are also numerous community cargobike projects operated by local groups. These are cargobikes that are shared within a community, housing cooperative, district or association or a certain group or made available by house owners.

The initiators determine who belongs to the user group and is allowed to use the cargobike. The group also determines the terms of use, e.g. annual fee itself. Thus, community cargobike projects are neither common property nor for everyone.

With the community cargobike project, there is no need for brand communication and, if necessary, a booking system, which makes the implementation easier. Community cargobike projects also come from civil society and, like the Commons Cargobikes, are an important building block of the transition in transportation.
